Phu Kham Heap Leach Gold Operation (LAOS)
(formerly called the Phu Bia Gold Mine)

The Heap Leach operation entered production in November 2005. The operation leaches ore from the oxide gold cap deposit which overlays the Phu Kham copper-gold deposit. The mine is seasonal and produces gold during the dry months, from October to May. During the four-month wet season, the heap leach agglomerate is protected from rainfall by a low-density, plastic “sheeting”. Production is expected to conclude at the end of the 2009/10 dry season as the ore reserve is depleted.
